AMA is the world's largest model aviation association, representing a membership of more than 150,000 from every walk of life, income level and age group. The AMA is a self-supporting nonprofit organization with the prime responsibility of the development of model aviation as a recognized sport and worthwhile recreation activity.
The public is invited to learn more about model aviation by visiting the International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, IN for an event or to visit the National Model Aviation Museum. Museum visitors can explore how model aviation has impacted the aviation world and technology. Together the museum holdings, divided into three groupings- the object collection, archives, and library materials- tell the story of model aviation, and the people involved.
These stories include everything from early attempts at flight in the 18th century, the development of the three types of model aviation- Free Flight, Control Line and Radio Control- and the high-tech, electronic ready-to-fly kits available today.
