Freudenfest is held annually during the third weekend of July in Oldenburg, Indiana. It is a celebration for family and friends to get together and enjoy the local german heritage. This festival originated in 1977 and has become one of the premier German festivals in the southeastern Indiana region, drawing thousands of people into Oldenburg during the weekend event. Locally the festival is known as "The Biggest Little German Festival in Indiana."
Oldenburg Freudenfest is put on by local volunteers of Oldenburg. All proceeds from the festival go towards the beautification, preservation, and restoration of Oldenburg, Indiana.
