    Summer in Berne

    Muensterberg Clock TowerAs the warm weather and long days of summer begin to roll in, who would want to spend the day at home? The summer months are a great time to visit Berne. With antique malls and various shops downtown, Berne will surprise you with all the attractions it has to offer.

    Muensterberg Plaza & Clock Tower will be the venue for various free concerts. Visit for information on these events. The splash pad at the plaza will be finished near the end of July and will be dedicated in August. It will provide children a place to go besides the pool on those hot summer days.

    Something that a lot of people don’t realize is that Berne is the furniture capital of Indiana. Bernhaus, Clauser, Yager, and Habegger furniture all offer different types styles and options whether you are looking for a new couch or a dining room table.

    If you are interested antiques, downtown Berne has three antique stores that offer a variety of unique items that you won’t find anywhere else. The stores include, Berne Antique Mall, The Gathering House, and Karen's Treasures, which deals in new and used furniture.     Hoosier Chocolate

Now the owner of DeBrand in Fort Wayne, touted by the Wall Street Journal as having the best artisan vanilla and chocolate marshmallows, Brand also offers tours showcasing the creation of her hand made candies.

    Logansport’s Med Flory Jazz & Blues Festival

    Along the Wabash River at the Little Turtle Waterway Plaza in downtown Logansport, you will enjoy styles of music that is uniquely American.  Jazz and the Blues were born from the hearts and souls of American muscians and since it’s beginning in the early 20th century has given rise to its many distinctive styles.

    Med Flory Jazz & Blues Festival is in its 5th year. The festival honors hometown boy Med Flory, a Grammy Award winning entertainer who has enjoyed great successes as a jazz musician, composer and television and film actor.  The 5th Annual Med Flory Jazz & Blues Festival will play host on June 8th and June 9th to eight bands from throughout the Midwest. Saturday night’s headliner is Steve Allee.  Steve is a Grammy nominee who by the age of 19 was touring with the Buddy Rich Orchestra. 

    Rain or shine on Friday June 8 and Saturday June 9 food, music, adult beverages and fun will be served up with sounds of over 100 years of musical history.
