Light up your Christmas Season by kicking it off at the Light Up Logansport Parade

After a full day of shopping for all of those "Black Friday" specials it is our family’s tradition to attend the Light Up Logansport Parade. The parade is routed through downtown Logansport in the heart of Cass County. Pre-parade festivities include Santa handing out candy to the children and a performance by the Logansport Children’s Choir. Reading Railroad distributes books, Toys for Tots collects unwrapped new toys and the Salvation Army has hot dogs, chips and hot chocolate for the first 500 people. The pre-parade activities are located in the Security Federal Savings Bank (the gracious sponsors of this event) parking lot and start at 5:30pm. The parade starts at 7pm at 8th & Broadway and will delight you with uniquely lit masterpieces sponsored and built by local businesses. Local students usually work with the businesses on the building of these floats. These floats are displayed at Little Turtle Waterway Plaza until New Years Day. One of my fondest holiday memories was of taking an evening stroll through these magically designed floats.

Gather the family and start your own tradition this year by attending the Light Up Logansport Parade on Friday November 23, 2012 in downtown Logansport.

    Holidays in Hamilton County

From shopping to fun family events to tasty Chowtown treats, a trip to Hamilton County this season is sure to bring you some cheer!

Hamilton County ShoppingHead to one of the shopping areas in Hamilton County for an unforgettable (and super productive!) shopping trip. Choose from three major malls: Clay Terrace in Carmel, Hamilton Town Center in Noblesville  and The Fashion Mall on the edge of the county. For one of a kind gifts, try boutiques in the Carmel Arts & Design District and shops lining the beautiful and historic Noblesville Square.

Grab the gang and attend a show at the Center for the Performing Arts where there are performances by all kinds of talent- from local theater groups to national recording acts. Just because it's getting chilly doesn't mean that Conner Prairie is closed! They are hosting many including Follow the North Star this month and the annual Gingerbread Village exhibit.

While you're out and about running holiday errands, don't forget to sample some of the season's delicacies from local Chowtown eateries and treat shops! Let Lisa's Pie Shop do the holiday baking for you. Pick up a special holiday pie like Indiana's favorite sugar cream or one of Lisa's award-winning flavors like chocolate caramel pecan. While roaming around the Carmel Arts and Design District, load up on stocking stuffers from Simply Sweet Shop. They have caramels and chocolates crafted by Indiana Artisans and crazy flavors of hand-pulled candy canes for the kids. If you're strolling on the Noblesville Square, duck in to warm up with a drink from Noble Coffee and Tea. Try a holiday peppermint flavored concoction or a Hot Chocolate Zebra that's made with white chocolate and cocoa. When shopping has worn you out, take a break and refuel with a meal at a locally owned café or restaurant in Hamilton County's "ninth and tastiest town": Chowtown!
